Take a modern look at the former Clinchfield Railroad. CSX runs some heavy traffic across this old right-of-way. The Clinchfield was eastern mountain railroading at its biggest, with grades and tunnels and mountains to get through and around. Now CSX controls the track and trains, but not much has changed: Trains still have to get over and through the mountains! Mountain railroading at its best! Some things haven’t changed much since the heyday of the old Clinchfield … the trains are still long and heavy, and the terrain is still formidable with challenging grades, tunnels and curves. Today, this is CSX territory, and the railroad is putting some of its most powerful locomotives to work to meet the demands of moving trains through a daunting landscape. Videography and editing are well done, camera locations are creative and the trains sound great. A nice tour of an iconic stretch of eastern mountain railroading.
