Personally… I enjoy watching cab rides. So I wanted this video. I did expect a tad more that what the cover says.
It says…. “non-stop” however… that is not the case. The video is an hour long, yet it is roughly 140 miles from Willard Ohio to Garrett Indiana or over 2 & 1/2 hours by automobile. The producer has cut out a few hours of the train ride which is somewhat disappointing.
The quality overall is not the best either as the producer does some zooming in & out inside the cab. A times, the scene is to bright to really see what is going on. However, considering when the video was made… it could be that the equipment he had was not the greatest.
There is some narration, mainly when maps are shown. Otherwise some screen graphics are used to explain some things, mainly locations.
I recommend this video if you enjoy cab rides, just don’t get your hopes up for anything to great.

It’s not non stop .. and the quality is terrible.
Not the best 24.95 I’ve ever spent.

Not the best buy I’ve made with 24.95
I would return it if I could.

As the previous review (written by “aw”) says, the CSX cab ride video does not have the best audio quality but certainly not the worst. Still, I praise this program for showing the spirit of operating a modern diesel giant like the General Electric AC6000CW (in this case). The engineer’s right-side desktop control console is typical for many GE wide-cab locomotives built prior to the Evolution Series, but you can clearly see the unit’s number 680 displayed on the conductor’s left-side console. Because this number falls between the CSX AC6000 class (600-699), there is no mistake on which locomotive we are riding on, although it would be better if there is a brief exterior shot of the unit before the videographer climbs aboard. Since the footage was filmed in the early 2000’s, just after the Conrail split, you can hear the growls of the 16-cylinder 7HDL diesel engine inside the as-built CW60AC. This would be before CSX converted many of its 6,000-horsepower beasts with more fuel-efficient GEVO engines.

There is one technical confusion I found in the DVD. I wanted to watch the program with the narration and maps, but when I selected the triangular play button on the DVD menu, I found out that the whole thing starts with the unnarrated version and then replays with the narrated version. Here is a simple tip for those of you who want to buy this title. When you start playing the disc, the first menu you will see shows the two options. If you select the one with the narration, please do not use the play triangle. Instead, click on Chapter 1 of your desired version and the DVD will take you directly to that. You will also see some text commentary when you choose the narration option. It is not perfect, but the CSX cab ride video will always give memories of the fan-favorite AC6000CW diesel locomotive with its high-horsepower character.

Its hard to find cab rides anyway, but this is the only one I think that covers the old Baltimore and Ohio line in Ohio. Quite interesting. Sound quality is average maybe dubbed in at times. Worth the buy, and I hope that it could some day be remastered.
