The challenge of crossing the Alleghenies was one of the Pennsylvania Railroads biggest feats. It remains helper territory to this day. In 1992 we visited the area covering Conrail from Altoona to South Fork. Lots of great action was filmed from various locations, many of which are no longer accessible!

Railroading is never easy, add in some obsticules like mountains…. and you got a challenge. Conrail met that challenge and this video does a great job presenting it to us. You have to love all the different power seen from different angles and locations. A great video…. simply put.

With no narration, it’s like watching your own videos. Each time a new location is encountered, the location is displayed though. No train symbols are shown but if you just want to watch trains negotiating the Allegheny Mountains, it’s not a distraction. There are many multiple train meets. The picture is clear with minimal panning and most of each train is shown. Very good video and I recommend it.
