  1. Brian La Rosa

Conrail’s Conclusion focuses on the last year of the railroad’s existence before its lines were split between the CSX and the Norfolk Southern systems. This volume covers the easternmost part of the former New York Central Water Level Route between Buffalo and Erie. The latter is known to be the birthplace of most General Electric locomotives, and this is particularly my favorite part. Not just Conrail’s own GE diesels are shown but also some newer units for such railroads as Union Pacific and BNSF. Those models built during 1999 were the DASH 9 and AC traction series. There are even a couple of Amtrak passenger trains headed by the young GENESIS diesels, plus a few good surprises.

In addition to the factory-fresh GE locomotives, the old New York Central station is seen in North East, Pennsylvania and is the home of the Lake Shore Railway Historical Society and Museum. It preserves mostly vintage GE models such as the Universal Series U25B diesel and the “Little Joe” electric. All the locomotives outside of Conrail would add a colorful mix to the sights of the “big blue” railroad. This 100-minute video is surely worth watching for Conrail enthusiasts and even for GE locomotive buffs.

This is a great video. Buffalo is covered in detail and shows some NS and B&P activity there as well. Then the CR line is followed to Erie. There are shots of new GE locos from other railroads coming from the GE plant in Erie. A few NS trains are shows since the NS line follows the CR main to Erie. I Enjoyed the shots of trains in the snow also. Narration was at a minimum and informative when it was needed. Trains were listed with location and direction using text. A very good video that I highly recommend.

After seeing Trains On Location show down on Lake Erie, had to pick this up. Love it. Clear Blocks Conrail Conclusion is one of the best video series ever put together. This is one of those. I think Clear Block Productions was one of the best producers on the market. It is a shame that he didn’t get to produce more videos.
