The result is a fantastic portfolio of sixteen great eastern hot spots: CP Five and CP Potter, New Jersey; Bear Mountain, Selkirk Yard, State Line Tunnel, Syracuse, Lyons, Buffalo, and Binghamton, New York; Allentown, Reading, Rockville Bridge, Horseshoe Curve, Conpit Jct., and Rochester Tower, Pennsylvania; and Palmer, Massachusetts.
Other railroads are spotted at these sites as well as Conrail, including New York, Susquehanna & Western; Central Vermont; CP Rail; and Amtrak. Among the wide variety of locomotives spotted are LMS and GATX lease units, Canadian National power, Amtrak GP40-TC, and the rare General Electric C32-8 (Conrail bought the only ten units of this model ever built). One of the most classic programs from Pentrex. Watched this many, many times on VHS and so many times on DVD. I visited a bunch of Conrail locations thanks to this program. Always enjoyed the Horseshoe Curve portion due to always going on vacation in the area. Will always be a great program to watch.

Various hot spots from the ex NYC and PRR lines. Video is well done and the narration is very informative. Various locations around each hot spot are explored so the railfan can find several locations to watch trains. I highly recommend this DVD.

I cannot count the times that I have watched this video! I had it on VHS and had to buy it again on DVD. I have always loved Conrail, and I have always loved the section from Conway Yard to Altoona, Pennsylvania that is covered here! I appreciated seeing the NYSW, Amtrak and the Canadian Pacific as a bonus as well. I have watched this video over and over and continue to enjoy it!

Conrail… The ashes to riches railroad. A railroad with plenty of great locations for viewing the trains at work. In this video, we see places like Bear Mountain, Selkirk Yard, Syracuse, Buffalo, Allentown, the Rockville Bridge, Palmer (Massachusetts), and of course no visit to the east is complete without Horseshoe Curve. There is a wide variety of power and companies, including Canadian companies that serve the northeast. It is a very fine video for all rail fans who want to see great railfan locations and are planning a possible trip to the regions once served by Conrail.
