See one of New England’s regional railroads just as steam was giving way to the diesel locomotive. We cover the line in Connecticut, Vermont and Massachusetts. 4 programs in a 3 DVD set.
br>See one of New England’s regional railroads just as steam was giving way to the diesel locomotive. Two local railfans, Andy Schools and Bill Radcliff, Sr., independently, but following the same path, each set out with a vengeance to capture the Central Vermont’s last days of steam in the mid 1950s. The Central Vermont had not yet dieselized and so presented a great opportunity for Schools and Radcliff. Thanks to their efforts, we can follow the CV’s feisty and fast running Consolidations through the four seasons – and four programs, on 3 DVDs.

This is a spectacular collection of vintage railroading. I had these on VHS and had to get them on DVD. Well worth the money even if you aren’t a CV fan just for the vintage rolling stock, structures and vehicles. The latest addition of the F-7A unit cab ride is really great listening to her throttle up and down. I have about 200 DVD’s and this is one of the top 5 as far as I’m concerned. REAL railroading as it was.
