This is CN on the Albreda and Edson subs over Yellowhead Pass between Hinton, Alberta and Tete Jaune, British Columbia in 1999. You’ll see CN’s unusual power, EMD & GE cowls together with new SD75I’s and C44-9W’s. The Canadian, the best looking passenger train around, and its baby sister, the Skeena, make appearances, as does the Rocky Mountaineer. Lots of CN action in superb scenery.

The scenery in this program is spectacular, the trains are just a bonus. Many different types of locomotives are filmed giving a great variety.

You might have to hit “replay” because you were caught up in the scenery and missed the train, or vice versa. Highball Productions has a knack for showcasing the setting as well as the rail action in its programs, and both are unsurpassed in “Canadian National’s Yellowhead Route”. Flawless videography, creative camera locations (in a “can’t miss” landscape), fascinating motive power (now more than 20 years old, interesting consists and handsome passenger trains. This one is a winner from start to finish.

Anything in the Canadian Rockies is almost always good. Yellowhead Pass is a low elevation Pass when compared to other pass’s. Having been to Jasper National Park and through the Yellowhead Pass a few times, I appreciate the work gone into this video. It shows the line and the region very well. The scenery and wildlife is exceptional. And so are the trains. Well done Highball.

I highly recommend this dvd because we can see lot of CN action in Canadian Rockies and lot of trains and powers.
