Three exciting steam events from the early 1990’s: AT&SF 3751 out of restoration, SP 2472 on the Coast Line between San Francisco and Los Angeles, and UP 4466 running at Railfair. And, by a seemingly amazing coincidence, 3751 and 2472 had a historic meet at Mission Tower in Los Angeles, and only Valhalla Video was there to record it! We pace 3751 going up Cajon Pass pulling a Santa Fe Employee Special. The 2472 is shown between SLO and LA on its historic trip. Finally we see UP 4466, a coal-fired 0-6-0 with a slope-back tender, operating on the Sacramento Southern at the California Railroad Museum in Sacramento.

Once again, Valhalla adds their own unique “take” on things to the mix… This program offers three beautiful examples of steam locomotion… each offering their own sights and sounds. If you are California DREAMIN’, then you ought to be California STEAMIN’! There is simply no other way to think of the Golden State… That is, without including it’s railroads and preserved historic equipment. 🙂

From the test run & first miles to Chicago in November & December of 1991 & August of 1992 with 3751, plus September 1992 coverage of 2472 to los Angeles & back with a rare meet of 3751, plus a short segment on 4466 in Sacramento during May of 1991, these 3 locomotives can show railfans what steam in California has to offer.
