A rare treat: Riding the narrow gauge in a steam locomotive, with a cab view! Ride in the cab of a Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway steam engine, a former Rio Grande 3-foot gauge K-36 2-8-2. You’ll see the magnificent scenery of the Animas River Canyon as well as the crew at hard at work. You’ll also see some run-bys and through it all you’ll hear the engine at work, with some awesome stack talk. This is a cab ride just as if you were there, with no narration, just the sounds of the engine and crew!

Good show, but the constant movement of the camera made me motion sick. Do those K36 engines really ride that rough?

If you can’t afford the trip to The Durango and Silverton, why not let the railroad come to your tv screen? After all, it’ll give the home viewers an opportunity to take a ride on what it’s like to go for a ride on one of America’s most popular all steam powered tourist railroads.
From Maintenance in the Durango Yard with 486 to an entire northbound journey through Home ranch, Hermosa, Elbert Creek Canyon, the High Line Over the Animas River, Tacoma, Tank Creek, & much more until we arrived at Silverton from both trackside, & even at the throttle with 486.
