Baltimore and Ohio steam locomotives were running out their final years in the early ’50’s. Ed Birch visited the Cumberland, MD, area several times to document these engines. He filmed in the Narrows, at Ellerslie, Hyndman, Fairhope, Manilla, Keystone and Salisbury. The star of the show is the EM-1 “Yellowstone” but the class S 2-10-2 was prominent in pusher service. Diesels from EMD, ALCo and Baldwin were starting to appear. Color, sound, maps and narration.

Some beautiful shots of these great steamers moving America along in their final days of operations… ESPECIALLY in Cumberland right next to Western Maryland trackage. If you are a Baltimore and Ohio fan, this is definitely one you want in your collection.

Narration is a bit scarce, but the scenes are good. Would recommend!

Awesome footage with lots of action. Most major steam classes and early B&O road diesels. Best B&O flick I have.
