Enjoy rare footage from between 1955 and 1958, the last years of B&O Steam operations. The first segment is west from Cincinnati toward Indiana with scenes along the Ohio River through Storrs yard, Anderson Ferry, Milan Hill, and then in North Vernon, Indiana where we see a couple of 2-8-2 lead freights. We also see several shots of the Louisville to Cincinnati Passenger trains with Pacific’s for power racing along, mostly toward Cincinnati.

The second part of the video is along the line from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh. There are a lot of trackside views in places like Winton Place, Oakley, Madeira, Loveland, Blanchester, Columbus, Newark, Wheeling, Pittsburgh and more. This rare footage was shot by Greg Scholl’s father, Warren Scholl. Warren had an office in Madeira, so he shot a lot of passenger trains in that area. He also rode the train east several times, and filmed some shots out the back, and from the vestibules. On one such trip he got a cab ride from an engineer that got to know him, and he even runs the engine for a brief time west of Columbus. There are mostly riding scenes between Columbus and Pittsburgh, and some nice scenes at the Pittsburgh passenger station with steam activity there, plus an RDC shot.

In the third segment we see the roundhouse and Cincinnati Union Terminal with a departure of “The Cincinnatian” with one of the streamlined P7 4-6-2. We also see locations such as Winton Place with the back-up move of trains to the Toledo sub, and visit Glendale station for some action. A few other locations are visited like Sidney, and Lima, before we see a lot around the Toledo Station, and visit Rossford yard, where we see a few shots of 4-8-2’s, 2-10-2’s and an 0-8-0. We get to see a couple of brief scenes aboard the “Cincinnatian”. This is a great show with good looking steam power in all seasons of operation, during the final years for B&O steam.

Made in 2017, this program covers more 8mm silent films from the producer’s father with some scenes that took place at the exact same time during Greg’s 2004 video: New York Central Steam Finale & also Vintage Steam in the east for the Louisville & Nashville Segment. Other Road names include New York Central, US Army, Pennsylvania, Norfolk & Western, & Louisville & Nashville.

The P7D class Pacifics in streamlined mode were the engines to led to the creation of Caitlin in the 2013 Thomas the Tank Engine movie: King of the Railway.

Locations include Storrs Yard in Cincinnati, Anderson Ferry with a small flood, North Bend, Finney, street running in Lawrenceburg, Milan, North Vernon, Oakley, Madeira, Remington, Branch Hill, Loveland with 4558 switching cars, Blanchester (which was filmed by Donald Jaimeson), Washington Courthouse (with 2840 in Black & White), Pittsburgh, Washington (home of the PA trolley museum), Elm Grove, Wheeling, Benwood, Bellaire, Zanesville, Newark, Columbus, Winton Place Junction, NA tower, Wapakoneta, Toledo, Glendale, Woodlawn, Sidney, Lima, Ivordale, Madisonville, Midland City with a wrecked Pick-Up truck, & Orient Bridge.

Just like with many of Greg’s other 2017 titles minus the original 1987 editing of N&W 1218 Rebuilt & Roanoke Bound, this was narrated by Brian Sellers.
