In the Main Line Motion Pictures version of the recently turned 30-Year-Old event, 3 mainline Steam giants retraced their routes as they did in 1991 to Sacramento for Railfair, this time they’re on the way to San Jose. Aside from the Convention with 4449, 2472, & one of the busiest trips for Challenger 3985 before heading to Topeka Kansas in September to meet with 3751, & also heading to CSX territory in November for the Santa Train as Clinchfield 676, the Main line Motion crew also traveled south to Texas to get a rare look at 786 in action. Like 614, 2716, 4070, 385, 4039, 722, 750, 290, & a handful of others, 786 is also one of the mainline steam stars that should’ve deserved more attention from railfans.
The theme song in this program was later used Goldhil’s America’s Historic Steam Railroads for 3 in New Hampshire, & Lancaster County Pennsylvania’s Strasburg Railroad.
Aside from the Main Line Motion crew, other producers like Pentrex, Bob McMillian of Valhalla Video, Mark 1 Video, & Video Rails (yet to be converted to DVD or Blu-Ray by Pentrex), were also there for one of the big American Steam Railroading events of 1992.

Excellent in all regards! Nice coverage of the 1992 NRHS Convention… Over an hour and a half of non-stop action!
Curtis Watson –
I’m biased against shows without narration, but this one does have some spectacular footage of the big celebrities, and in territory I know well!
Alan Ross –
What a great dvd, good footage of the ’92 & great shots of the Southern Pacific going thru Texas , and seeing the (T&No) 786. Worth the money for this one. 5 stars.

This has good shots of the locomotives roaming around California during the 1992 NRHS convention and even some great shots in Texas of SP (T&NO) 786 which hasn’t run in several years. Lots of cool mainline action that will definately keep you occupied.
