Here we have a rare sight these days, a doubleheader in steam! Nickel Plate 765 and Pere Marquette 1225 are together for the first time since the 1980s. Two days of staged photo freight fun: Day 1 was the 765 alone, day 2 was both engines. Purely mindless runbys, but hear them bark! Lots of sound and fury, massive smoke plumes and some awesome stack talk. Includes side by side runbys. If you enjoy big steam you won’t want to miss this program.

Special features include the ability to turn the narration on and off.

In late August of 2009, after a month’s success of TrainFestival from July 23rd to the 26th, the 2 Lima Ohio built Berkshires put on some special performances in the flat farmlands of Michigan, both on solo trips, & of course doubleheaders since the 1991 NRHS Convention that was held in Huntington West Virginia.

For some reason, the side-by-side runby clip was shown in Marshall Publishing’s own video: Lots & Lots of Big Trains, with nearly 10 million Views.

And not only that, but these scenes were recorded before 1225 was in pieces for its 15 year inspection the following spring of 2010, before it was bought back into service for TrainExpo 2014 in June of that year, not to mention 765 working on different railroads after the Michigan 2009 trips like Norfolk Southern, Iowa Interstate during TrainFestival 2011 in Rock Island Illinois, Metra Commuter Rail, the Cuyahoga Valley Line, Indiana Northeastern, & the Wheeling & Lake Erie.

I concur with the previous reviewer. There should have been a better handle on things during the editing process… Nevertheless, it is still worth watching overall. How often do you get to see these two Van Sweringen Berkshires running trips together? … Not a whole heck of a lot…

It’s not the best video I ever watched but the highlights were great. The narrator could’ve used more details and he didn’t said Lima correctly as the 2 nearly identical famous Berkshire locomotives were built by Ohio’s Lima Locomotive Works in the height of WWII. Another minor issue is that there were some audio difficulties as they were cut off during some runbys. I still enjoyed the locomotives as they team up together for the first time since August 1991 and perform the best show they can.

Cool footage of the NKP 765 and PM 1225 working together and doing different individual runbys.
