This was a video rails production, and has the only female narrator that I’ve ever encountered on a train video. The narration was fantastic and very informative. Excellent footage and includes a cab ride. Plenty of “Pepsi-cans” which are my all time favorite Amtrak engines.

This production was one of the Video Rails titles that was later re released under the Pentrex brand. The show is in 2 parts, the first part runs the line from LA to San Diego with track side views showing Pepsi Can GE’s, and F40’s. Back ground info and history of the stations it passes are also covered. There’s some beach side shots around San Clemente that would be a little harder to get away with filming now days !!

Also shown was the filming of a movie using a SF warbonnet F45 which added a bit of variety. Also, if you’re a fan of the Santa Fe, this is worth a look. There’s a fair bit if Santa Fe action to be seen, plus a couple of SP freights as well.

The second half features a cab ride in a GE P32-8BWH from San Diego back to LAUPT. With beach side scenery on a sunny afternoon and some 90 mph running make for some nice scenes.

A worthy addition to the shelf.

Very interesting region, Southern Cal. You get views of the mountains, the Pacific ocean and all large cities in the region. You connect in LA and San Deigo. 2nd half shot in the can. Great views. Well worth the money.

The scenery captured throughout this video is beautiful. Many variations of the coastline are captures throughout the production and it is one of the best videos I now own for this particular route and train. A must have.

One of the more interesting regions of the USA to view trains is Southern California, with the mountains to the east, the sea to the west, and all the large cities in the state. This video does a great job showing us all the interesting locations along the route connecting Los Angeles and San Diego. There is plenty of action along the way, as many trains are viewed, and the route is well documented. Add in the fact that it is a Combo, with the second 1/2 being a cab ride, and the viewer has nearly everything that can be anticipated for a Point A to Point B video production. The price is good, along with the image quality. Definitely a “must have” for all collectors of railroad videos.
