Amtrak Shops, Beech Grove

Amtrak’s shops at Beech Grove is the destination for a lot of equipment needing of heavy repair or major maintenance. The shops were originally built for the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway, the Big Four. When the New York Central took control of the Big Four, Beech Grove continued its heavy repair work. And when Amtrak took on the nation’s passenger train schedule, Beech Grove came with the deal. Besides car and locomotive repair, unneeded equipment may occasionally be put up for sale. Our videographer was involved in this process. Potential buyers are provided a detailed listing of the equipment, including date of manufacture, original owner, mileage and condition.PLEASE NOTE: This visit to the Beech Grove Shops does not include any video of the inside of the facility.
