Watch the end of an era! This footage was taken just prior to and just after the Union Pacific take-over of the Southern Pacific. You’ll see AC44s, C-40-8Ws, SD45s, SD70Ms, GP60s and B40-8W locomotives in action at some great SP hot spots… like Tehachapi, including the oil cans, on Beaumont Hill, with helpers, Soldier Summit, the old Western Pacific, the Little Rock Sub and the Sunset Route. Lots of action from an old, rapidly disappearing favorite. The narration can be turned off or on.

Definitely one for SP fans, as it covers almost all of the system before the UP took over. Narration scene selection, and camera work left a lot to be desired.

The video does a good job covering the territory that the SP travelled. However, the coverage is old (as to be expected being SP) and therefore the quality is not as good as we expect from this producer. Screen graphics are limited and narration is also very limited . I think the producer could have done a much better job explaining what was going on with the trains and their locations. Personally disappointed and I would only recommend the video to the die-hard SP fans.
