Excursion steam captured in the Lone Star State! Jim Terrell filmed the SP Daylight 4449 passing through the state on its way to the World’s Fair in New Orleans. He captured the Texas State Railroad that runs between Rusk and Palestine with locos number 400 and 500. The Austin Steam Train restored Southern Pacific number 786 for passenger excursions between Cedar Park and Burnet and watch The Tarantula Train with ex-SP ten wheeler number 2248 running between Grapevine and Stockyards Station in Ft. Worth. Finally, we see the run of Frisco 1522 through Texas on the way to Oklahoma City.

I love this video with Southern Pacific 4449 on it’s way to the New Orleans’s worlds fair, the Texas state railroad with an ATSF Pacific, A SP Mikado returning to steam, the tarantula train and Frisco 1522 on the BNSF employee appreciation special. It’s very amazing.

When people think of Texas, they think of cowboys, giant 17 ounce steak challenges and headquarters for Whataburger, but for railfans on the other hand, it’s also really cool to witness these smoke billowing giants on the iron rails no matter if they’re big or small.
