What to do when you are a railroad and need a caboose – but don’t have one? You borrow it – from a railfan! The owner of a private caboose is requested to loan the car to the New Hampshire Central RR, which was required to take officials on an inspection tour of its state-funded rehabilitation work. The car was shipped from Northfield-Tilton, NH, via rail, and the owner rode along. Meanwhile, friend and former Conrail trainman Gary Gurske captured the whole thing on tape! You’ll even see a Jordon spreader at work! Follow the caboose through several scenic railroads: New Hampshire Southern; Guilford; St. Lawrence & Atlantic (GATX power and then CN power!); and then the New Hampshire Central. What an interesting trip through New England!
