The Super Chief and El Capitan were two of the finest passenger trains operated by the Santa Fe. In later years the two trains were combined into one special passenger train. In 1971, Amtrak took over and tried their best to continue running the Super Chief/El Capitan utilizing Santa Fe’s high standards.
Travel back in time to the summer of 1972 – a truly great time to be a railfan in Southern California as we see Amtrak run The Chief. This was a short-lived train, but you can see and hear it here!
T.A.R. –
WHAT A GREAT DVD ABOUT SANTA FE’S SUPER CHIEF AND EL CAPTAIN, 2 OF THE GREATEST PASSENGER TRAINS EVER FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ( I SHOULD KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE TRAVEL ON BOTH OF THESE ICONIC TRAINS WHEN I WAS A KID). SADLY AMTRAK TOOK OVER THEE TRAIN IN 1971 AND BOTH OF THEM FADED AWAY FOR EVER. THIS IS A VERY INFORMATIVE DVD ABOUT BOTH OF THESE ICONIC TRAINS AND THEIR HISTORY. SEE GREAT SCENERY AND IN YOUR FACE ACTION. A RAIL FANS DREAM COME TRUE. 5 STARS AND 3 HOURS LONG.
