It’s time.

We’ve been in business 27 years. Things change over time and we’ve generally been able to change with the times. Now we have a number of changes in the world, and with myself, that together indicate this is the right time to semi-retire. Well, retire from selling physical goods. Geri and Ken will still be employed at RailfanDepot. We’re still railfans and we’ll still have railfan content for you: RailfanDepot will continue on Facebook, YouTube and our websites.

While the timing may seem rushed, this has been in the works for nearly a year. We’ve reduced inventory, but still have a half-full warehouse. To clear the warehouse we’d like send as much of our rail films to you as we can. That means one last sale. Starting Monday the 2nd, prices will go down 10% each day. We have *very* limited stock on hand, so if you want something you need to decide “do I grab it now while it is still available, or do I wait until the price hits rock bottom?” We’ve added our stock count to each item ad page to help you decide… now, or later? Either way, you’ll get a good deal since everything we sell (with the exception of Herron Rail Video) is discounted right now – and we’ll pile on the discounts every day.

Some of the nuts and bolts: We will end sales of physical goods at Midnight Monday, February 9th. All orders will be shipped by Friday, February 13th. This is your last opportunity to use any Reward Points or Store Credit Vouchers you may have.

Thank you for all your support over the last 27 years. I hope you will support us if you see us in the wider railfan digital/online world.

This has not been an easy decision for me. I know many of you well and I appreciate your friendship. It’s just time. The world has conspired to increase costs for us at the same time that we’ve lost nearly all foreign orders as boycotts of American goods spread. And, I am nearly 65. It’s time to step back a bit. As I note above, we, myself, Geri and Ken, will continue to be in your railfan world and we hope to see you again!
