Cincinnati is home to many, and quite a diverse group of, shortline railroads. This set is the complete 5 Volume “Cincinnati Shortlines” series by Green Frog. Get them all – with a big discount! Here’s what you get:
In Part 1 of the Green Frog series “Cincinnati Shortlines” we cover the Indiana & Ohio’s Oasis Subdivision. Much of this former Pennsylvania Railroad route is part of the oldest railroad in Cincinnati dating back to 1837. Today it’s home to both freight and passenger trains from the I&O, Norfolk Southern and Cincinnati Railway. In this program well see a variety of footage from the ground, as well as on board the Cincinnati Dinner Train.

Coverage includes: Reading, Ohio then it’s McCullough Yard (Norwood) and Madisonville, Fairfax and Pendleton. At Linwood we visit Undercliff Yard then we see Oasis at Cinci. 1 hour 26 minutes

In Part 2 of the Green Frog series “Cincinnati Shortlines” we cover the I&O’s Midland Subdivision.

The sub begins at NA Tower in Ivorydale and heads northeast towards Midland City and Columbus, Ohio. The Marietta & Cincinnati Railroad started construction on the line in 1851 though the railroad was purchased by the B&O in 1882. Through trains ceased to operate east of Midland City in 1985 and the line east of Greenfield was abandoned shortly thereafter.

Chessie System and later CSX, kept the line open to Columbus via Washington Court House. In October of 2004, CSX leased the Midland Subdivision to the Indiana & Ohio which has been operating the line ever since.

In this program we see a variety of I&O freight action between NA Tower in Ivorydale and the Junction with the I&O’s Greenfield Sub. 52 minutes

Part 3 is the Indiana & Ohio’s three subdivisions – Lebanon, Mason & Blue Ash Subs – are all former Pennsylvania Railroad routes. This includes the remaining track on the Lebanon & Mason subdivisions which run from Lebanon, Ohio to Mason and Monroe.

We’ll also visit the Blue Ash sub which runs 10 miles north from McCullough Yard in Norwood to Brecon near Fields Ertel Road. This line used to connect to the Mason and Lebanon subs but three miles were abandoned by the Penn Central in 1968 between Brecon and Mason.

As of 2018 the Mason and Blue Ash subs primarily saw local freight traffic with the Lebanon Sub running only passenger trains. The Lebanon sub was able to support freight but there were not any active customers on the line. Passenger trains on the Lebanon sub are operated by the Lebanon, Mason & Monroe Railroad which is headquartered in Lebanon. The LM&M also operates over the Mason sub and occasionally the Blue Ash sub. Most trains in this program were operated by the LM&M, though we’ll also see several I&O freights. 50 minutes

In Part 4 of Green Frog’s Cincinnati Shortlines series, we follow the Cincinnati East Terminal Railway. This ex-Norfolk Southern’s former Cincinnati District, from Cincinnati to Portsmouth. Before the NS, this beautiful stretch of railroad was once part of the Norfolk & Western.

We’ll see a variety of freight trains from the ground and the cab. This includes the final days of Norfolk Southern operations east of Valley (Mariemont), plus many trains operated by the CCET. Also take a round trip from Ancor to Batavia in the cab of CCET 2807.

Don’t miss this exciting program with HD videography, another great entrant in this shortline series. 1 hour 1 minutes

In Part 5 of the Cincinnati Shortlines series, we’ll cover the Central Railroad Company of Indiana, and the road’s CIND & Brookville Subs. The CIND Sub, a former New York Central Big Four route, connects Cincinnati & Indianapolis.

In this program we’ll see primarily freight traffic between Cincinnati and the Honda plant in Greensburg, Indiana. Passenger trains operated by the Cincinnati Railway also make an appearance. We conclude with a trip aboard an Ohio Rail Experience excursion along River Road, and a climb up Guilford Hill. 1 hour 23 minutes
