On June 12, 2016, Advanced Approach Videos took a trip to Rondout, Illinois. While the reason for the trip was to catch Nickel Plate Road Berkshire #765 on its Varsity excursion from Glenview, Illinois to Janesville, Wisconsin – we hung out at Rondout (a great railfan location) for the Metra, Amtrak and Canadian Pacific traffic. There’s more Metra, Amtrak and CP traffic than 765, but it’s all good railfanning. (RailfanDepot note: This is amatuer footage. On June 12, 2016, Advanced Approach Videos made a trip to Rondout, Illinois to catch Nickel Plate Road Berkshire #765 on its Varsity excursion from Glenview to Janesville, Wisconsin. While most of the crowd followed the train, we stayed in Rondout to catch the mainline action provided by Metra, Canadian Pacific and Amtrak. Even though we visited on a Sunday, we were rewarded with a colorful parade of power and equipment. Rondout is still an ideal location for train watching in the Chicago area. This is not a video about Nickle Plate 765. It only appears in about 3 minutes of shakey film. The rest of the video is also shakey and a lot of that is Metra. If you like hanging out all day at Rondout, with just two short looks at 765, then you’ll like this. Otherwise, not so much.
