The Old B&A featured a major challenge where it crossed the Berkshire Mountains in Western Mass. Conrail took over in 1976, and although helpers were hardly ever used, many trains were brought to their knees climbing the hill. Lots of great action from many scenic locations is seen, with a variety of power, winter drama & the Bow (NH) Coal trains.
No narration, Stereo

No knowing much about the Berkshires, this video is a treat to see the interesting landscape. Old coal towers, surrounded in snow, heavy trains working hard. A great variety of different power. A nice presentation to go along with the “Allegheny” video.

As with the Allegheny Mountain video, there is no narration but that isn’t a bad thing. Locations and train symbols are show and you are left with watching and hearing the trains without distracting narration. I had my surround sound system on with this and it sounded very good. I enjoyed this DVD. When I bought it, I was thinking the Berkshires I would see almost all GE locomotives with some SD80MACs. Far from true, there were many EMD locomotives on the trains, some exclusively EMD. Various seasons were represented in this DVD which I found nice. I would recommend this DVD.
