Historically, this line is formerly the Charleston and Western Carolina Railway, a subsidiary of the Atlantic Coast Line. Running 64 miles south from Spartanburg to Greenwood in South Carolina this is now CSX’s Spartanburg Subdivision. Today the Spartanburg Sub is home to 12,000 ton coal trains that require pushers and now DPU locomotives to negotiate the hilly South Carolina Terrain.
R-Line Video has visited the area numerous times to capture the action along the entire line. The program is arranged in geographical order and includes subtitles with pertinent train information.
Dan –
Beautiful scenery, excellent photography and the throaty sound of hardworking trains! Primarily coal traffic, the landscape is just hilly enough to require pushers and DPUs. Most trains are shown in their entirety, and the videography is well done and camera locations are well chosen. And the trains sound as good as they look! There’s no narration, but on-screen graphics give train, date and location information. Another nice program from R-Line Video.
