This program covers the numerous railroad changes that have occurred over the past 20 years across the Mesabi Iron Range in scenic Northeastern Minnesota. Featuring the: Duluth Missabe & Iron Range, Canadian National, Burlington Northern, BNSF, Cyprus / Cliffs Northshore Mining Railroad, LTV Steel Mining Railroad and the Cliffs Erie Railroad. With rail line mergers and acquisitions there are now three new railroads since our original 1992 release of Taconite Trains of Minnesota. Plus, new diesel power and several railroads have also added new ore cars to their fleet. The rail action includes long unit trains of: taconite pellets, crude ore, limestone and tailings. The iron ore products are either being transported to taconite processing plants across the Iron Range or to their Great Lakes shipping ports that are located on the shore of Lake Superior.
