Moving long, heavy trains of taconite pellets and crude ore can be a challenge for railroads at any time of year; heavy snow and bitter cold can make moving those trains even harder. This is a nice look at winter railroading on the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range’s Iron Range Division in northeastern Minnesota and the challenges the railroad faces in keeping the trains rolling. Some of the video dates back to 1987, so there are some great scenes of DM&IR’s older power, including high-nose units. The landscape is starkly beautiful, and the videography is very well done in conditions that must have been challenging for camera crews, too. The first part of this series covers winter railroading on the DM&IR’s Missabe Division, and both are exceptional. Well done, Plets Express!

If you love iron ore hauling railroads. A big fan of Plets Express as his videos are put together nicely. Plets Expres really did their research on these productions. I recommend any Plets Videos if you like informative Narration and good picture quality.
