The Iowa Chicago & Eastern Railroad is a large Midwest regional railroad – a sister railroad to the DM&E and now owned by Canadian Pacific. The IC&E trains travel across the scenic states of Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Missouri. The IC&E train action includes road freights, locals, yard switching and unit grain trains. Watch the long IC&E trains as they travel along the majestic bluffs of the Mississippi River and through the corn belt of the rolling Midwest prairies. The IC&E travels through several interesting small towns and large cities with their tall grain elevators and historic depots. The IC&E is powered by diesel models which include: GP9, SD40, SD40-2, SD40-3, GP38 and the GP40-2. The IC&E’s connecting railroads are also featured including BNSF, UP, CP, CN, NS, KCS, DM&E, IANR, IATR, IAIS & Amtrak.

I was a little disappointed about how little he covered the Chicago Sub. Lots of coverage along the Mississippi from the St Paul area down to Nahant, IA. Nice runways in good light. Overall good program.

An enjoyable, comprehensive look at a cool (pun intended) Midwest regional. The camerawork is well done, with Plets Express’ knack for video storytelling. You’ll see ICE trains led by a roster of handsome older (vintage?) locomotives in many scenic Midwest locations. The narration includes helpful information about the railroad and the region, without detracting from the sound of the trains. A five-star addition to any railfan video collection.

It gets cold here in Chicago, but this tape is not about that… it is about the ICE and their great looking engines. Plets Express does a good job heer as they always do and I appreciate the map they include in the box. You really can’t go wrong with a Plets Express tape.
