Austrian, German, Hungarian and Czech power at Vienna’s Sudbahnhof, Westbahnhof and Meidling, Austria’s busiest railway station. Then it’s off to the main line west to St Polten, with international and long distance trains, locals and freights. We spend some time at St Polten after seeing trains along the route, where in addition to the bustle of the main line trains we see the narrow gauge Mariazellerbahn. Finally we follow the main line south over scenic Semmering Pass. Includes a brief look at the control room at Semmering.

A nice blend of passenger and freight trains from several countries, shown in scenic urban and rural locations. The narration is informative and, as always, Highball’s videography is creative and very well done. And there are some panoramic shots that will take your breath away! If you haven’t yet expanded your video railfanning beyond North America, this is a good place to start. One of my favorites in Highball’s “Colorful Trains” series.

This video production from railroads in Vienna is one of the most interesting and colorful production I have seen in a long time. It is well done, photographed and narrated throughout the entire video and was a pleasure to watch and listen too as I have viewed it several times since it was purchased.
