See awesome Southern Pacific Railroad action on Soldier Summit, from the Price River Canyon to the Gilluly Loops. This is the Southern Pacific on former Rio Grande rails. Watch new SP GE AC4400CW units together with older SD45s as they travel through the spectacular scenery of the Price River Canyon, over the summit and down through Gilluly to Spanish Fork Canyon. See massive coal trains, Rio Grande tunnel motors as helpers, train meets on the horseshoe curves and 6 trains in 15 minutes at Colton!

Southern Pacific is alive and well in the Wasatch! SP’s days were numbered when this video was released in 1995, but the railroad was still hauling heavy trains through the rugged landscape of the Wasatch using a fascinating mix of it’s newest and older power. And there were still plenty of locomotives wearing the colors of the Rio Grande and Burlington Northern! Videography is well done and the scenery is stunning. A great look back at a fallen flag many railfans remember fondly.

The Wasatch is a region that is very scenic and makes trains work hard. That is seen in this video as the SP had new AC4400CW’s working the head end and plenty of older units working as helpers. Lots of heavy coal trains in this video with lots of meets. A great video for the rail fans to enjoy.

I do like seeing the SP Bloody Nose coming at me! The action is great and so is the scenery in this video.
