The Patriot Corridor between Ayer, Massachusetts and Mechanicville, New York is Norfolk Southern’s access to the Boston market.
The line was refurbished and developed jointly by Norfolk Southern and Guilford Transportation, and is run as the Pan Am Southern. You’ll see the daily pig trains, usually with NS power, coal trains with NS, BNSF, Providence & Worcester and UP power, and Pan Am trains with both the old orange and gray paint, and the new dark blue paint scheme.

The ratio of NS trains to PAR trains is disappointing but the PanAm trains that did run were nice. Some good low light footage. Picture quality is 8/10. Can tell this person needs a sturdy tripod.

A kaleidoscope of locomotive paint schemes, fascinating operations and interesting consists … this is railroading with character! You can expect Highball’s usual top-notch videography, with just enough narration to give context to the importance of the line. A great look at a colorful piece of eastern railroading, and a “must have” addition to any railfan video library.

This is…. a rainbow video. Nearly every colour of paint that has been used in railroad paint schemes have been used in this video. There is a wide variety of power from various companies, both class 1’s & shortline/regionals are running in this video. And don’t forget some commuter action. The scenery is as awesome as the trains themselves. Very impressive.

This program gives a great portrayal of the Pan Am / NS Patriot Corridor after the line was refurbished. Shows action in numerous locations between Ayer, MA and Mechanicville, NY. Trains led by Pan Am power in orange and grey as well as the dark blue. Some foreign power is seen.
