Big black Norfolk Southern diesels pulling long trains on the trestles and bridges in and around Lynchburg. Trestles big, small and tall are featured as the trains rumble up to and across and near. Trestles featured include the famous James River Trestle (former Southern Railway), the Cotton Mill Trestle (Ex-N&W), the bridge at Harris Creek, Campbell Avenue Trestle, the tall trestle at Possum Creek, the curved trestle at Beaver Creek and more. The L&D (former Lynchburg and Durham) also makes an appearance.

The trains are interesting, but the trestles are the stars. And together, it’s an unbeatable combination! Highball does a fantastic job documenting some of Lynchburg’s railroad landmarks … many of which appear too delicate to support the weight of heavy NS freight trains. The videography is creative and the camera locations are well chosen. And since the program is almost 30 years old, the footage also has some historical significance. Nicely done, Highball!

Anyone who loves trestles and railroad action will really love this one. It is amaizing how many trestles are in that area and Highball does a very good job showing them. Heavy trains working hard and showing their strength on these beautiful trestles. Well done .
