With perfect Fall weather we begin our journey at Shelby, working through Cut Bank, Browning, Grizzly, Two Medicine Bridge, the snow sheds, Summit, Marias, Java, Essex and on down to Whitefish. The new Heritage C44s look terrific against the mountains and fall foliage. Shot in 1997, there are many interesting paint schemes, including a new version of the “pumpkin” scheme on the Office Car Special.

It might be a toss-up which is more spectacular … the trains or the setting. Together, they make this a “must have” program! The BNSF merger was still fresh when this video was shot in 1997, and the locomotives are wearing a nice mix of new Heritage paint and classic Cascade Green. And the variety of locomotive types and consists make every train exciting! Marias Pass itself is always stunning, and Highball caught trains at all the great locations while the Pass was wearing its best autumn colors.
