Three main lines cross at grade at the depot in Marion, Ohio – with CSX and NS banging across eight diamonds! We’ll see all kinds of traffic, from locals to coal trains, intermodals, manifests and a rail train. All kinds of power make an appearance, from geeps to the latest GEs and GMDs. Lots of action!

No train ID’s are shown, which would be helpful. The videography is not the best.Too much showing the wheels over the diamonds than showing the train.

A nice look at one of America’s “must see” trainwatching locations. I purchased this program when it was first released, and brought it out of storage after recently spending a day at AC Tower. Like the real thing, the video includes a variety of railroads, locomotive types, paint schemes and consists, and the volume of traffic is amazing. Expect the usual solid videography from Highball Productions, and while narration is minimal, the video does a nice job capturing the feel of spending a day trackside in Marion.

Hot Spots are often very good locations for train watching, and Marion Ohio fits that category. No arguments there. However, in this video, I feel that while there is plenty of train action, I questioned if the producers could have done better. Narration needs a lot of work. There is very little narration, and this video needs some as it lacks screen graphics also. It is your basic “trains rolling by type video with no information video”. Because it is directly at diamonds, the trains are also slow moving. Location of where the video is shot from changes little. While I enjoyed the video, I was disappointed for a Highball production, hoping to see and/or learn more of the Marion rail action. 3 stars are generous.
