If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to step back to the early 1990s to experience a cab ride on one of Amtrak’s fastest trains, this is your golden opportunity! Pentrex takes you into the cab of an AEM 7 for a high-speed ride at the head of Metroliner Train 110 from Washington D.C. to Philadelphia along the electrified, heavily trafficked south end of Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor. The big windows of locomotive number 911 give you a clear view of what it’s like to meet trains at full throttle. With both trains at 125 mph, the closing speeds are a thrilling 250 mph!
Amtrak’s constant maintenance and its manicured roadbed result in a smooth ride for the AEM 7. You’ll be amazed as the Metroliner rolls through a high-speed turnout at almost 70 mph. Produced with Amtrak’s cooperation in 1992, this video highlights Amtrak’s pride and joy, the Northeast Corridor, as no other video can – from the engineer’s viewpoint! Now all the excitement of a high-speed cab ride can be yours to enjoy on DVD.

A great video to watch. It’s neat to see the engineer’s perspective on Amtrak’s busiest route. Bravo, Pentrex!

I love travelling by train, and I have travelled on the Northeast Corridor between Washington & NYC. The cab ride really brings the trip into prospective. It is fascinating to see the rails at high speed as we do in this video. The ride is very smooth and you can not tell you are moving at 125 mph. Excellent video. If you love trains…. this is a “must have”.

GREAT FILM AND VERY INFORMATIVE ABOUT ONE OF THE BUSIEST CORRIDOR’S IN NORTH AMERICA. TAKE A CAB RIDE IN THE FAST AEM7 AT THE HEAD OF THE TRAIN-GET TO SPEEDS UP TO 125 MPH. SEE 2 TRAINS MEET EACH OTHER AT 125 MPH GOING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. SEE THE METRO LINE DO TURNOUTS AT 70 MPH. GREAT DVD FOR THE MONEY AND 5 STARS. 85 MINUTES LONG.

I LOVE how the AEM7 in this video takes off just north of Washington to 125 mph! I was also surprised how long and slow that trains must move to travel through the tunnels to get to the station in Philadelphia. Overall a GREAT video, I just watch the 125 mph running on normal play and the 30 mph running under Philadelphia sped up at 2x-3x
