She was built half a world away, and once worked in Pennsylvania, but now she steams through the Nutmeg State on former New Haven Railroad trackage. She’s Valley Railroad #3025, a Chinese Mikado hard at work hauling tourists in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley. Come along with Pentrex as we share the story of this most interesting 2-8-2.We’ll talk to renowned railroad photographer Tom Nanos, who describes the engine’s rebuild in Connecticut after a devastating roundhouse fire in Pennsylvania. Next we’ll go trackside as #3025 struts her stuff on a chartered photographer’s train. Then we’ll watch as two Mikados are steamed up for a day’s work – a rare sight in the 21st century. All this and more awaits you in this new Pentrex release: 3025 – A Chinese Mikado in the Connecticut River Valley.

I really enjoyed this DVD, especially for its price. I loved the different shots, the photo charter, and the scenes with 2 steam locomotives sitting next to each other. It was also interesting to see not only its restoration process, but also footage of other locomotives with similar backstories. Amazing for 10 bucks.

This is a fantastic pentrex dvd like every other title produced by them. This video has tons of useful and important information on this engine. I would go into more detail than this but it is worth a watch. See for yourself.

This is another high quality Pentrex video. The subject is a beautiful locomotive in a very scenic location. In addition to this loud Mike there is Mike #40 to give some additional thrills. What a great operation they have up there in CT! A very worthy video for your collection.

New England scenery is truly amazing for all ages and steam both American and Chinese locomotives have a unique story to learn from them. Both Pentrex and Mark I Video documented very well on history from the beginning to whatever is today.

Well 4 Years ago I rode on that tourist line twice. Once on Memorial day weekend with #40, The other In September with 3025. When I saw a preview for this DVD I was shocked That Not only Pentrex Was There, But I was At the Same Trip At the Same Time With My Dad. Look For Me Waving At The Pentrex Crew.

It is nice to see steam on my screen with the clarity of today’s new television equipment. Widescreen and clear… and with closeups of the engine. The usual good job by Pentrex made even better with the use of a widescreen camera.
