The Main Line of Mid America from the 1940s to the 1960s. We see action on both main lines and several divisions. Legendary class 2500 and 2600 4-8-2 steam engines are well represented here. Also seen are 2-10-2s, 2-8-2s, and other Illinois Central steam.
In the 1950s and 1960s we start to pick up diesels, especially on passenger trains. The transition era is a fascinating time and we catch the last run of Paducah-built 4-8-2 #2613, as she left Louisville with her train. We see name passenger trains, “City of Miami”, “City of New Orleans” and “Panama Limited”. This is an action packed show that also takes you to the roundhouses at McComb, Louisville, Memphis, and Paducah.
