Originally Released in 1998 which is made in Co-Operation with the house of presidents, this Non-Railroad themed program chronicles the history of the real white house in Washington DC as well as a tour of the giant model itself. There are some animatronic figurines during the building of the National Landmark. The music in this documentary is absolutely amazing as well as countless details from room to room. Aside from the model of the white house itself, there are also historic artifacts & details like the west wing, the oval office, the South Side Mansion, the East Wing, Jacqueline Kennedy’s Garden, the movie theater, the North Side Portico, the West Colonade, the West Wing office, Abe Lincoln’s office, Bill H. Taft’s office, Dwight Eisenhower’s office, JFK’s office, Lyndon Johnson’s office, Richard Nixon’s office, Gerald Ford’s office, Jim Carter’s office, Ronald Regan’s office, Bill Clinton’s office, & many other rooms.
The Model was built by John Zweifel & his entire family, who also designed a Circus, a County Fair, Puppets, & Miniature Theaters. Prior to building the Model, John visited the Real white house to get some perfect measurements of the rooms, & even from the roof as well. The music during the 1970s road tour was later used on Greg Scholl’s Riding the Narrow Gauge in the 1950s. Every Christmas, the Blue Room is decorated for the Winter Season.
This is a really great video for the whole family to enjoy, as well as kids of all ages who wanted to learn about what life was like in our Nation’s Capital. The program was narrated by Joe Washington.
