This is Canadian Pacific’s highly scenic Windermere Sub between Golden and Fort Steele in British Columbia. We’ll see big GE’s on coal trains and a pair of SD40-2’s on the wayfreight alongside the Columbia River, which runs through the Rocky Mountain Trench.

This review is for the bluray. Image quality is good, but not up to 7idea quality. Sound is always (inexplicably) monophonic with highball. Identical audio in both Dolby 2.0 tracks. Program is very repetitive with 80% of trains using the same pair of sd40-2’s. Remainder is modern wide cabs pulling unit coal trains and I think one intermodal. The entire video looks to be shot in summer, and we see a lot trains moving through lush forest. This could be anywhere in the northwest, and rarely do we get any feel that we are in a spectacular canyon. I have highball bluray of Thompson/Frasier called Canada’s Canyon. That is far, far better. The repetition of almost identical trains and scenery makes this seem long at 58 minutes. Pick this up only if deeply discounted.

The railroad action is interesting, and the scenery is spectacular. Highball does a nice job showcasing the setting in its programs — the beauty of the region and the challenges the terrain poses to the railroad. The unspoiled scenery of the Windermere Sub alone makes this a fine addition to your collection, and the trains are a nice bonus!

I bought this program for the scenery, knowing the Motive Power was very common, GE Widecabs and SD40-2’s. Towards the end of the program,, a CP Train coming off the Cranbrook line, does have a UP SD90mac in the consist. The scenery in Bluray was quite enjoyable.

A great video for the scenic beauty of the region. The CPR follows what is basically a north-south mountain pass, and the action through here is really good. Not as many trains on this sub as you will find on the main line service, but still really great to see.

Lots of red GEs and coal trains. Spectacular scenery though and it really makes you want to go on a trip there. It could have used more history in my opinion, but that’s why they call me a grouchy old fart.
