Awesome action on the busiest piece of freight railroad in the world, with an average of 125 trains in 24 hours. You’ll get to see SD90/43MACs and C6044ACs on manifests, coal trains and intermodals, plus CNW and SP power, and run-throughs too. The trains follow in a constant parade, one day we counted 85 between 6:30 am and 9:00 pm! This is a video for motive power fans, exciting and fast paced, with LOTS of meets. See aerial views of Bailey Yard, the biggest yard in the world, and some stunning sunset scenes.

It’s easy to see why they call this “the busiest piece of freight railroad in the world”! There’s always something moving on the triple track main … often multiple movements at once, with heavy, high-horsepower trains meeting or passing each other. For the railfan, what could be better? Union Pacific is the star, but the video was shot more than 20 years ago, at a time when locomotives from Chicago & North Western and Southern Pacific were not uncommon on the line. Camerawork and editing are very well done, but you might be tempted to close your eyes for a few minutes and just listen to the action! Two very enjoyable hours.

There is no place in the American mid-west to the west like Nebraska with the railroad action. The triple track main is a steady parade of the heavy weights pulling coal and all other types of merchandise. It is an awesome thing to see for rail fans. And being triple track, meets and passing trains is normal. The video also takes some time at North Platte to see the huge UP yard from the air. Very interesting to see. Well done.
