The Green Bay & Western Railroad operated a fascinating 100% Alco powered diesel fleet. The colorful GB&W had a remarkable 122 year history before becoming a fallen flag to the Wisconsin Central in 1993.

Their rail line stretched 255 miles from the shore of Lake Michigan at Kewaunee and traveled through Wisconsin’s scenic forests and farmland to reach the Mississippi River and a connection with the Burlington Northern at East Winona. Part One of this two part series features red GB&W Alcos in road freights and switching action on the western half of their rail system. Along with local and yard switching in Green Bay, Merrillan, Arcadia and Wisconsin Rapids. Plus a brief look at the GB&W’s connecting railroads of the C&NW, WC and ELS.

And of course that great GB&W Alco sound and smoke are featured with diesel models: RS11, RS3 / 20, C420, C424 and RS27. Rail footage era 1987-1993.

Nice shots of the road trains with mixed power. I didn’t realize the last trains in 92-93 has so much intermodal! Neat sequence with an RS20 switching in Green Bay opening the program.

A big fan of Plets Express as his videos are put together nicely. Plets Expres really did their research on these productions. I recommend any Plets Videos if you like informative Narration and good picture quality.
