Originally released in 1989, this program covers the vintage films of Mr. Eugene Livernois of Massachusetts, as he witnessed lots of steam & diesels with unusual surprises like:

    1. The Boston & Albany with Berkshires & Hudsons, plus a visit from the Flying Scotsman in 1969

    2. The New Haven with a ride on a Budd Car into New London from Worcester with a variety of boats at the docks as well as being transferred by an Alco RS3 to New York City, plus MU cars, a look at Webster MA with a Budd Car in 1960, & steam on the NH until 1952 with 2-6-0s & a 4-8-2, plus GP9 1212 switching on a local, & another local with an FM Trainmaster.

    3. New York Central with Alco FPA-4s in Worcester, & F-3s in Brookfield.

    4. An aftermath of a freight wreck on the Penn Central in October of 1969 on the Route 32 overpass in MA with U-Boats on a passing freight carrying new automobiles & a later visit to the same spot in the winter with Mr. Livernois on the scene.

    5. Central Vermont at Palmer with F units in the 50s during the winter

    6. Rutland with Double-headed Steam at Rouses Point Bridge

    7. the 1939 World’s Fair with engines from the Pennsylvania, Norfolk & Western, New York Central, the Coronation from Europe, & others

    8. The Monadnock & Northern with Steamtown in Vermont that has Rahway Valley 15 on a trip.

    9. More of the Flying Scotsman’s USA tour in 1969 as it visits Hartford while on display.

    10. the Sturbridge Live Steamers Club

    11. Boston & Maine with the Flying Yankee & Steam in Old Orchard Beach Maine

And 12. Edaville at South Carver MA with the cameraman’s wife on screen

Even though the films were shot silent & had an added music background with narrative details, the footages were captured in a little bit of Black & White, but there are more in color as well.

In a word: Excellent. Great rail action dating back 90 years with lots of steam then early diesels & RDC’s in various areas in Massachusetts, Maine, etc… I simply wish that the video was longer.
