Pentrex takes you on a 2 hour and 30 minute railroading tour across the great state of Arizona. It’s far more than wide open desert! There are mountains, National Parks, Canyons, and plateaus, giving America’s 48th state a wide variety of scenic areas to choose from. To the north, the busy BNSF Transcon cuts across offering many choice locations for photographers. To the south, Union Pacific’s Sunset Route offers even more scenic photo angles in this typically hotter and drier region.

We traveled throughout the state in search of some of the best trains in some of the greatest photo locations around. Along with all the heavy duty freight action, we caught many shortlines in operation and a pair of tourist lines. As we follow both the BNSF and UP lines, we will pay a visit to the nearby shortlines or tourist lines in the area. The isolated and electrified Black Mesa & Lake Powell Railroad is also represented in our exciting show. The railroad variety is just as intense as the scenery and we bring it all to you in this one exciting program that is Tracks Across Arizona!

Lots of great railroad action in Arizona. BNSF & UP put on great shows for the rail fans. This video doe a fine job showing it all. Add in a few shortlines and tourist railroads for added excitement. Fantastic scenery along the way. Even one electric railroad makes an appearance. Good stuff Pentrex.

a great video as far as content is concerned. Travel around the state and see good BNSF and UP action. Lots of shortline activity including a trip to the Grand Canyon. However….. not sure if it was just my copy or all , but I found the quality of the video to be poor. Thinking it was my eyesight, I asked my wife to watch it also and she said the same thing. The picture is not clear in many places…. a touch of blur . I was not impressed but I do enjoy the content.

This 2 and a half hour pentrex DVD from 2015 features lots of nonstop action in the southwest state. There are many appearances of mainline freights on BNSF in the north, and Union Pacific on the sunset route. There is a second visit to the private electric coal railway that was first shown in last year’s rail explorations DVD, Amtrak’s Southwest chief and sunset limited, small short lines, and 2 tourist attractions from f units on the Verde canyon railway, to steam on the Grand Canyon railway with Chicago Burlington and Quincy 4960 and lease Amtrak F40PHI’s. If you love railroading in the southwest, this is a great companion and additional add-on to the rail explorations DVD.

Had not watched any DVDs on Arizona. I enjoyed this dvd, although it seemed to move a little slow at times, enough to make me wonder “how much time was left”. Good color, was interesting.

See railroads from calss 1 to class 3 shortlines, as well as excursion lines. The Apachee railroads neat alcos are featured as well as good fast paste mainline action from UP and BNSF. Great reference video for scoping out railfan locations or tourist attractions.
