Here’s your opportunity to sit back and enjoy an entire day’s activity at what some say is the busiest all-freight railroad junction in the world – Union Pacific’s Gibbon Junction. Fifteen hours of incredible train watching have been condensed into 73 action-packed minutes featuring 73 different trains! Located twenty-nine miles west of Grande Island, Nebraska, and fourteen miles east of Kearney, Gibbon Junction is the meeting point for Union Pacific’s Marysville Subdivision and the east/west Nebraska Division mainline.

Pentrex arrived on the scene before sunrise on a long summer’s day in 1997. The first movement was captured 6:10 AM and our day ended at 9:00 PM – seventy-three trains later! Freight, coal, and intermodal trains and local freights all make an appearance. Great weather, a fantastic mix of equipment, and the sheer volume of trains combine to bring you a remarkable video experience. Train symbols with origins and destinations are shown for most movements, as well as the time of day and other statistics. Join us at Gibbon Junction, from sunrise to sunset!

This program has the viewer spend an entire day watching UP freights roll through Gibbon Junction, heading for points east, west and south.

Extremely good DVD from Pentrex. Seen the ads for it at the ends of several of the other DVDs from them I have, and now I own it and am very impressed. Great variety of power, both foreign and home road (new GE units, former Mopac SD40s, etc). Totally recommend it.

  3. Dan

This is just what you’d hope to see in a day of railfanning, with all the waiting edited out! Non-stop trains, a variety of locomotives, interesting consists and perfect weather. The footage is almost 25 years old, and this program gets even more entertaining as it ages. The first and still my favorite in the Pentrex “Sunrise To Sunset” series.

Gibbon Junction Nebraska…. I have been there 2 times and love the action. This video show 15 hours of daylight with over 70 trains. On screen graphics show the time of day, place of origin & where the final stop is, etc… along with some narration. A great video.

On the whole day of Tuesday July 9, 1996, there is a never ending parade of mainline freights on Union Pacific, C&NW, & some other road names that roll through this busy junction. From coal to doublestacks, this is an incredible hot spot to visit again and again.

  6. Joy

Wow…..75 diff trains. The 73 min just flew by. Very interesting.

  7. T.A.R.

GREAT DVD WITH OVER 75 DIFFERENT TRAINS IN ACTION. LOTS OF GOOD SCENERY AND IN YOUR FACE ACTION. SEE 15 HOURS OF ACTION CONDENSED DOWN TO A SHORT 73 MINUTES. LOTS OF LOCATIONS ARE SHOWN ON THIS DVD INCLUDING THE MARYSVILLE SUB DIVISION. ALSO GREAT WEATHER ACCOMMODATES THIS DVD. 5 STARS AND 73 MINUTES LONG.

  8. Andyweise

Although not a big fan of run-by videos. This is an exception. This was film during a time that UP had an interesting assortment of motive power. Great narration and a diagram are included. I would suggest this video to anyone.

  9. Kraig

Even though its a little dated now but really shows how many trains go through this junction in a single day. Do a good job with narration and giving each trains symbol.

  10. Arthur Patzwald

  11. Chicago Bill
