Enjoy a dawn and early morning chase of double headed 15AR class 4-8-2’s on a passenger train on the Stormberg to Rosmead line. Visit the famous De Aar to Kimberley line and see solid action of class 25NC 4-8-4’s, and make a visit to the De Aar Shed to see a group of engines, and one being coaled. This is all regular service steam action on mainline trackage – in 1980!

This is Cape Gauge 3 foot 6 inches (their standard Gauge). The 4-8-4’s look very American with knuckle couplers, and cow catchers, as well as 60 inch main drivers, and a good barking exhaust. Lots of action in many places.

  1. Mwdonoughue

This program showcases what steam was like in South Africa in 1980, back when commuter trains in the Port Elizabeth area were still steam hauled, and when various classes of steam locomotives were still in active service.

  2. Ricky

This 2013 DVD features lots of highlights in South Africa, as Greg’s Brother Randy made his own visit to the region to witness everyday operations. These nearly 35-40 year old sound films are A nice Companion to the 1984 Series, but the Picture Quality is 100% Amazing than Greg’s 1984 Videos, due to the lousy one color filter on the Panasonic Supertube.
