Santa, Union Pacific and CSX teamed up in November 1992 to bring a special Santa Train to the former Clinchfield main line. The Santa Train had been a Christmas tradition for years, but this was something special. UP Challenger 3985 traveled from Wyoming to Kentucky and Tennessee to power the annual CSX Santa Claus Train. The train was made more special when 3985 was renumbered and relettered in Huntington, West Virginia as Clinchfield Railroad 676. See 3985/676 in action and even as she is re-railed! Color. Limited narration.

Once again, Main Line Motion Pictures provided another great perspective on this historic occasion. A HUGE variety of shots, and a vantage point simply not seen with Pentrex or GSVP.

This DVD focuses on the 3985’s trips in CSX territory, as it was disguised as the CRR #676 for the 50th running of the Santa Express.

Besides MLMP, Greg Scholl, Pentrex, & A company by the Name of American Altavista were also there for one of the Once Largest Operating Steam Engine in the World’s trip to CSX territory in 1992. Prior to the Santa Train, 3985 headed to San Jose for That Year’s NRHS Convention, as well as the Topeka Kansas Railroad days weekend with 3751.

This is probably my personal favorite excursion I ever watched on Challenger 3985. It traveled from Union Pacific country at Cheyenne Wyoming to Huntington West Virginia in CSX territory to pull the 50th annual of the Santa special on former Clinchfield rails. There’s not much narration on this one but they do have captions on many of the locations they filmed at. It’s a must see on anyone who loves special events.

WHAT A GREAT FILM ABOUT THE FAMOUS 3985 PULLING THE SANTA TRAIN FROM KENTUCKY TO TENNESSEE AND ON INTO WEST VIRGINIA, WHAT A WONDERFUL SIGHT TO SEE. SEE LOTS OF GREAT SCENERY AND LOTS OF ACTION, AND WHAT A WONDERFUL TRAIN THE 3985 REALLY IS. 5 STARS AND 1 HOUR AND 26 MINUTES LONG.

We see UP 3985 masquerading as Clinchfield Railroad 676. Union Pacific and CSX teamed up to send the Challenger to pull the annual Santa Claus Train. Main Line Motion Pictures was there to capture the action. Including the moment that Clinchfield 676’s Centipede tender gets stuck on the wye!

This is one great video of the 3985 pulling a Santa Train in the hills of Kentucky,Tennessee & West Virginia. After I saw the video, I kicked my self hundreds of times, because I made the mistake of not going with them on that trip when Steve Lee invited me to while at Memphis. Any how Main Line Motion Pictures did a super job of getting shots almost every where it seemed. Also I like their limited narration, but you still knew what & where they were at. This is a must see video of the 3985 on the East side of the Mississippi. You will enjoy it, so buy it.
