This is the Santa Fe a couple of years before the merger that created the giant BNSF system of today. This DVD features lots of warbonnets speeding across the desert, from Topock on the California border all the way across Arizona to Defiance on the New Mexico border. Highlights include a glorious early morning in the snow at Williams Junction and a meet in dirty weather on the plateau above Kingman. Typical for the transcontinental main in Arizona, the weather ranges from snow to hot, hot sun. Includes Cotton Belt units.

This is a Highball Productions best seller.

  1. Dan

The scenery changes dramatically from location to location, and the weather ranges from glorious to downright ugly. And through it all, the Warbonnets look great! This is early 1990s railroading … the BNSF merger is a few years away, and Santa Fe still looks right at home in Arizona. Solid, creative video from all the great locations, with a healthy dose of nostalgia. Nicely done, Highball!

  2. Lloyd

A Warbonnet lover dream video. Lots of great action with heavy trains working hard in various weather conditions across desert lands.

  3. T.A.R.

THIS FILM IS ABOUT THE OLD SANTA FE A COUPLE OF YEARS BEFORE THE MERGER WITH BNSF. SEE LOTS OF WAR BONNETS RACING ACROSS THE ARIZONA DESERT FROM TOPOCK OF CALIFORNIA BORDER ALL THE WAY TO DEFIANCE ON THE NEW MEXICO BORDER. SEE WILLIAMS JUNCTION IN A SNOW COVERED MORNING AND SEE SOME DIRTY WEATHER ON THE PLATEAU NEAR AND ABOVE KINGMAN. ALSO INCLUDED IS THE COTTON BELT UNITS. 5 STARS AND 1 HOUR AND 45 MINUTES LONG.

  4. Olden DeCrepid

This is a very good video for Santa Fe fans. Contains good shots/sequences of operations when Santa Fe was it’s own company. Includes good shots of those engines in War Bonnet livery.

  5. Santa Fe Warbonnet

This an enjoyable video. It shows a variety of ATSF equipment in various areas working real trains. Contains some very good shots of the War Bonnet scheme before transition to BNSF.
