Awesome three steam locomotives operating in California during the 1992 NRHS Convention with most of the footage was featured in Today’s Steam Across America. I enjoyed the doubleheader with Southern Pacific 2472 & 4449 and UP 3985 climbing Altamont Pass, the Feather River canyon and Niles Canyon too. So glad that I got this for my birthday

ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDING!!! Some great “angles” that Mark I Video and Main Line Motion Pictures did not capture… Although their coverage is excellent in all regards as well. This Pentrex version of “Operation San Jose” has some gorgeous shots of Challenger #3985 headed through Feather River Canyon and up Altamont Pass with the Union Pacific train. Our most beloved 4-6-6-4 would give us a “taste” of what Big Boy #4014 would look like with the same consist in tow. Just as with Mark I, the segments on #4449/#2472 and THEIR respective roles in the NRHS Convention were beautiful and thorough, too. 🙂

30 years in the making of the 1992 NRHS Celebration. Mark 1 Video had a lot more info than Pentrex did but this video was well worth the waiting.

This program showcases both the ferry moves and the excusions during the convention, such as the 3985’s trip over Altamont Pass and the SP 2472/4449 doubleheader.

I have Mark 1 Videos production of Operation San Jose and I always wanted to see this version of the convention and it is fantastic.

25 Years in the making! One of the San Fran Bay’s Largest Cities would always remember one of the biggest US Steam Events of 1992. Eventually, Other Producers Like Vahalla, Mark 1, Goodheart, and Main Line Motion Pictures, were also there for the event.
