The Powder River Basin produces some of the most intense railroading action in the country, with a constant stream of empties to the mines and loads to destinations all over the country. You’ll see lots of meets, a couple of side-by-sides, a broken knuckle and even eight trains in one shot! Modern AC locomotives provide the big power needed for this heavy coal drags.

This is the Powder River Basin of the early 2000s, and there’s always something moving … often multiple trains at once … and Highball’s usual high-quality videography captures all the action with creative camera angles and a nice mix of trackside and panoramic shots. And you can almost feel the sound of hardworking locomotives echoing across the countryside! One of my favorites from Highball Productions.
