This show depicts 3 different P-51 Mustangs in Action during 2013 and 2014 in the Cincinnati area. Who doesn’t like P-51’s? These were the ultimate allied fighter planes at the end of World War II, and they were instrumental in protecting allied daylight bombers in Europe. With drop tanks they could go all the way to the target and back escorting the bombers the entire day and fend off attacks by enemy fighter planes. In addition they were used on ground targets as well as enemy aircraft. With the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine they were indeed the cream of the allied crop.

We begin with P-51D “The Brat III”, then see “Cincinnati Miss”, and “Red Nose”. In each case you will see good close-up action, as well as other things like engine starts, One aircraft we watch during a morning testing session where they make three takeoffs and landings in a row, and we are close to the action. Later we see this plane (Red Nose) doing low passes over the airport near us. These are impressive aircraft for sure. If you like good sounding aircraft then don’t’ miss this great action.

Here are the segments that appear in order:

    1. J9D The Brat 3 built in 1944 on Saturday June 28th & Sunday June 29th 2014 at Lunken Airport with the Last B-29 Fifi on display.

    2. LHO the Cincinnati Miss on Friday June 6th 2014 at the Claremont County Airport with a takeoff from a T28 & another plane. This is the shortest segment in the program.

And 3. QPG Red Nose built in 1944 at Lunken Airport on Friday June 20th & the following Saturday June 21st 2014 with the Dauntless, a T6, & a vintage 1960s Ford Mustang.

While this is one of the first WWII aircraft titles from Greg to be released on Blu-ray like the Dauntless, it’s also one of the last WWII aircraft titles to be narrated by John Edward Hingsbergen. In fact, some deleted scenes can be found in one of Greg’s newest WWII titles: Warbirds 2013-2016.

What a fantastic flying machine. Fast, sleek and one fast aircraft. Just to hear that engine start up was awesome. Not only was it a good war plane in awesome dog fights, but left the others in the dust at air race’s. When one flew over head it sounded so great. All in all this aircraft is just plain awesome. Enjoy !!
