  1. Mwdonoughue

This DVD includes many of the famous Berkshires in freight service, along with #759 pulling the Golden Spike Centennial Limited in May, 1969.

  2. Blake Ruth

Lots 2-8-4 “Berkshire” Action set to pleasant Music and Narration. The 759 was pretty cool. A good video for any railfan’s collection.

I think all railfans like the NKP Berks. They just had an appeal to them. I’m inclined to prefer the S-4 or ex-W&LE engines but any Berk is fine with me. There are so many very good shots of them in service and the surprise of the American Railroads engine and train. Unfortunately it was a momentous occasion but very little coverage seems to exist. Other handsome NKP engines are here too like the Mikes, switchers and a beautiful Hudson. Even some good diesel stuff. The narration really ads to the video as the photographer is the narrator so it makes more sense than many video commentary. Ad all around great DVD.

A trip back in time to witness everyday work on NKP is very decent to see, as well as a variety of Steam power such as the 700 & 800 series berkshires with a few appearances by noteworthy survivors such as 759 for example (Now on display at Steamtown in Scranton, PA) plus some early diesels which they have since been retired, displayed, sold to museums, and sadly gone for scrap. Not to mention being merged. Overall, good compilation, decent trains, and fine music as these films will take you back way before the internet, social media, and also online shopping.
